A friend of ours brings this interesting piece by former-MTV VJ Tabitha Soren's husband (hint: he wrote a much-loved book about the trading-floor culture at Goldman Sachs) to our attention. It’s a story about how one cold-calling broker wins—by sheer, dumb luck—a  $13-million account from the Rolling Stones. He is asked by his colleagues, How are you going to gross this thing up? The broker then has a realization: Taking your clients’ wealth and making it your own is what being a stockbroker is all about. This story chronicles his journey from one brokerage to another until he finds peace of mind as an independent financial advisor preaching the efficient market hypothesis.
