PRIMEDIA’S REGISTERED REP MAGAZINE HONORS AMERICA’S LEADING STOCKBROKERS

22nd Annual Outstanding Broker Awards Recognize Ten Innovative and Successful Financial Advisors

New York  - April 25, 2002 – What does it take to be an outstanding broker? PRIMEDIA’s Registered Rep magazine, the source of information for investment professionals, announced today its selections for the 22nd Annual Outstanding Broker Awards.  With the world of the stockbroker undergoing unprecedented change, Registered Rep editors accepted nominations in their search to distinguish and honor some of America’s most innovative and successful financial advisors.  The editors then surveyed branch managers, headhunters, clients, consultants and senior executives (such as Merrill Lynch’s David Komansky), and put the question to them: What makes a broker good?  The 2002 Awards recognize 10 leading brokers from various parts of the country who are recognized by their peers as being among the best financial advisors in the business.

“We surveyed brokers and advisors from around the country, and we closely examined the brokers who seemed to have mastered the science—or should I say, art—of wealth management,” said David Geracioti, editor of PRIMEDIA’s Registered Rep magazine.  “These awards are not about who is making the most money.  I know it sounds squishy but it’s what we found to be true.  What makes an advisor a talented one is his ability to help his clients articulate and define their financial goals and then to create a prudent plan to achieve them.  In fact, with the equity markets being so tough, only brokers who have the talent to bring to their clients the full compliment of wealth management services—by that I mean taxes, estate planning and the like—will survive.”

The winners of the 2002 Outstanding Broker Awards are being honored in the May issue of PRIMEDIA’s Registered Rep magazine and in recognition of their professional achievements, a special profile section is devoted to each of them.  The honorees for this year are:

·        Mark Cortazzo – Macro Consulting Group, SII Investments (Parsippany, NJ)

·        Angeli Forster – Forster Retirement Group, UBS PaineWebber (San Diego, CA)

·        Carl Stuart – Carl Stuart Investment Advisor Inc., Raymond James (Austin, TX)
