Burning Calories and Breaking Necks

Ever wonder what a rocky market does to a New York broker? Well, if you were at the city’s swanky uptown Equinox Gym last month, you might have seen one heave a fellow gym member (and bike) into a wall. Okay, so maybe it wasn’t the market that allegedly triggered Christopher Carter, a broker at Maxim Investments Group, to hurl a hedge fund manager into a wall—but the real reason ain’t so great either.

Stuart Sugarman, a fund manager and investment banker at Sunrise Financial Group, admits he was vocal during a spin workout (groaning and shouting “You go, girl!”), but that it didn’t give Carter the right to get vulgar and nearly break his neck.

Carter was charged with a misdemeanor assault and was released on his own recognizance this week.

Come on, boys. Play nice.
