Dain Rauscher to Track Clients' Web Activity

This summer, Minneapolis-based Dain Rauscher plans to launch a new system that, once fully developed, will enable reps to see what research a client has been accessing on Dain's Web site.
The new database system combines Web-tracking software from Vignette Corp. of Austin, Texas, with the firm's contact management program from Janna Systems of Toronto. Clients' Internet activity will be entered into the contact database and continually updated.
The database will also include a profile of the client's preferences that can be used to create a customized home page. The broker, the client or both can establish preferences, says Lori Nave, a Janna spokesperson.
In addition, Dain is planning "a major relaunch" of its Web site for April or May, says Lisa Fuhr, Dain's senior vice president for finance, technology and administration. The firm will also institute online trading this summer, beginning with equities and a limited number of mutual funds and options.
