Charles Schwab Corporation has named Walt Bettinger president and chief operating officer. Bettinger will report directly to CEO Charles Schwab. Bettinger previously served as executive vice president and head of Schwab Investor Services.

UBS hired Greg Jones as head of diversity for UBS Wealth Management. Jones was picked up from Bank of America's diversity recruiting division.

Wachovia Securities hired Michael Peacock, a former Smith Barney advisor. Peacock joined Wachovia's Madison Avenue branch in New York with about $211 million in client assets.

Morgan Stanley snatched up at least five advisors from Smith Barney for its Jericho, N.Y., office. Frank Lourenso and Gary Steven bring a combined $357 million in assets under management, and Robert Monahan and Frank Saunders bring over $170 million in assets. In addition, Lee Rosen joins with $275 million in assets under management.
