Is Greenwich, Conn., where a high concentration of New York-based hedge fund managers live in sprawling mansions with elaborately manicured grounds, the secret to the U.S. hedge fund industry's financial success? China seems to think so. It sent 20 officials to Greenwich in June to check out the wealthy suburb because it hopes to create a kind of replica outside Shanghai in a beach resort area called Feng-Xian where many Shanghainese weekend. It will reportedly attempt to encourage Chinese hedge funds to move their operations there. — Kristen French
