Celebrate Your Sales Assistant

Maybe your sales assistant is like Debbie Wagner who shuns vacation time to keep others from messing with clients, or maybe your assistant is more like Joni Schultz who arrives at work before sunrise. Either way, Wagner and Schultz work for advisors who say they’d be lost without their sales assistants.

Registered Rep.knows there are scores of sales assistants out there like Wagner and Schultz (both of whom were profiled in the October 2007 issue of Rep.), and we would like to recognize the men and women responsible for keeping advisors and, more importantly, their clients happy—a task that’s become more difficult recently.

Sales assistants are charged with the delicate task of keeping you—the advisor—and your clients on track, in both good times and in bad. In fact, according to Rep.’s most recent Sales Assistant survey (full results will be published in our upcoming issue), 61 percent of sales assistants say clients rely on them for a variety of needs, including some types of advice. As for the advisors with whom they work, well, a whopping 87 percent of sales assistants say their bosses trust them to complete their work without close supervision and allow them to take initiative in the office.

With that in mind, the October 2008 issue of Registered Rep. will feature profiles of some of the top sales assistants in the country. But we need your help! We are counting on nominations of sales assistants from the financial advisors with whom they work to make our selection.

Nominations are due by August 31.

If you would like to nominate your sales assistant, please include the following information:

1.Your name and contact information.
2. Name of your firm and/or your broker/dealer.
3. Location.
4. Sales assistant’s name.
5. Sales assistant’s contact information.
6. Number of years he or she has been working with you.
7. Sales assistant’s primary responsibilities.
8. Three reasons you think he or she is an outstanding sales assistant. (The more anecdotes and specifics you can provide, the better!)

Please send your nominations to Christina Mucciolo at christina.mucciolo@penton.com. Thank you in advance for your help and your continued interest in Registered Rep..
