Fidelity named Peter Cieszkoas as president of Fidelity Investments Institutional Services Company. Cieszkoas was formerly president and chief executive officer of Evergreen Investments. Fidelity also announced the appointment of Ed Orazem, former managing director of Global Wealth Management for Citigroup, as president of Fidelity Family Office Services.

Peter M. Uhlmann, chief of staff for the Securities and Exchange Commission, announced that he will step down from his current position. Uhlmann joined the chairman's office in 2005.

Wachovia Securities promoted Mike Powers to managing director for Northeastern Ohio. Powers most recently served as a senior vice president and complex manager of Wachovia Securities' Illiana Complex in Orland Park, Ill.

Janney Montgomery Scott's Boston office hired Kimberly Welsh as managing director in municipal capital markets. Welsh most recently served as “Head of New England” and “Head of the National Housing Group” at Morgan Stanley.
